Activities Coordinator – Caregiver Support Western Queens (Part-Time)

SCS is seeking an Activity Coordinator for the Western Queens Caregiver Program. The program provides information, referrals, counseling, and respite to family caregivers – those family members or friends who are providing care to an older adult who is ill, has a disability or is cognitively impaired, or older adults caring for a disabled adult, or grandparents caring for grandchildren.

As the Activities Coordinator, you will work under the supervision of the Program Director to plan, coordinate, and conduct events, presentations, outreach and trainings for clients and individuals in Queens neighborhoods including Astoria, Jackson Heights, Flushing, Whitestone, Forest Hills, and Ridgewood.

Outreach will include promoting the program both in-person at community events and through remote engagement over email, phone, and virtual platforms. You will also coordinate and help facilitate the program’s presentations to clients about topics related to caregiving, such as health issues, self-care, and long-term planning.

Responsibilities

  • Reach out to and coordinate with relevant programs and organizations to develop training presentations for clients on topics related to caregiving, aging, health and nutrition, and self-care.

  • Coordinate and participate in outreach and marketing activities for the program.
  • Track and report client participation in events and outreach engagement in the program database.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree, with at least one year of experience preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Experience developing and participating in street outreach events, and developing community partnerships and community resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and written communication skills to engage with community members, partner organizations, and clients with diverse opinions, values, characteristics, and cultures.
  • Understanding the needs and challenges of caregivers and older adults.
  • Strong computer skills to manage remote presentations, and ability to provide accurate and timely documentation, tracking, and reporting on data in Excel and the program databases Salesforce and STARS/PeerPlace.
  • Time management skills to coordinate multiple responsibilities and services.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in both a home and office environment.
  • Maintain client and agency confidentiality.
