Stock Donation
If you would like to donate shares, please call 929-335-7849 or email info@scsny.org so we can help you with the process.
Donor-Advised Funds
A donor-advised fund allows you to support the charities you care about through a single charitable giving account. You can donate cash, stocks, or other assets and recommend grants to organizations of your choice. This approach also simplifies tax reporting, as you receive just one tax form, regardless of the number of charities you support. Donor-advised funds can be established through your financial institution or a dedicated donor-advised fund organization.
Matching Gifts Program
More than 400 employers in the United States will match your gift to SCS. Check with your company’s human resources department to see if you have a Matching Gifts Program.
Payroll Deduction at Work
Many donors find it convenient to have their contributions withheld from their paychecks (before taxes) so that giving is spread out over the course of a year. Please check with your human resources department to see how you can arrange this.
Qualified Charitable Distribution
If you’re 70½ or older, there’s a simple way to support SCS while enjoying potential tax savings. You can make a gift directly from your traditional IRA to SCS or another qualified charity of any amount up to $108,000, without paying income tax on the distribution. It’s an easy way to give back and make a big impact. To get started or learn more, we recommend contacting your IRA custodian.
Remember SCS in Your Will
Become a valued member of our M. Joseph Levin Legacy Society. You may leave any portion of your estate to Sunnyside Community Services, directly or through a trust. You should discuss this possibility with your family and your attorney. If you decide to include us in your will, we understand that you may prefer to keep this private. But if you are willing, we would certainly like to hear from you so we can acknowledge your gift during your lifetime.
Other Assets
Another way to make an impact through our M. Joseph Levin Legacy Society is to name SCS as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy, IRA, or pension program. Please call 929-335-7849 to discuss.
Memory Wall
One popular way to support SCS is to donate in memory of a loved one or to recognize a special occasion. With a $100 donation, an inscription is placed on a glass brick on a decorative wall of our Center for Active Older Adults.
