The Bilingual Nurse Instructor ensures that SCS maintains a well-trained and knowledgeable home care workforce. The individual in this role will use training techniques that meet the learning needs of the workplace in compliance with all Department of Health regulations.
Responsibilities
- Performs paraprofessional skills competency evaluations.
- Ensures home care workers skills meet satisfactory levels of performance.
- Ensures supervisor is informed about issues and progress.
- Maintains statistical data on the performance of the training program/skills assessment.
- Interacts with managers to provide feedback on issues which emerge during the course of the in-service classes.
- Performs additional duties, as assigned.
Specialized Skills and Competencies
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of New York State Department of Health regulations for licensed home care service agencies.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise with computer software applications and word processing programs.
- Ability to effectively manage stress, and balance multiple conflicting priorities.
Qualifications
- Registered Professional Nurse with a current license and registration to practice in New York State.
- Two years of home care experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively and write reports and correspondence.
- Must work well with people.
- Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to comprehend communications and assess students and staff needs.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English required.
Compensation: $37.00 – $41.00 per hour (exempt; overtime eligible)
Working Environment
Office setting that may include occasional home visits or out-of-office meetings. Evening and weekend work required to meet deadlines and/or attend occasional meetings or seminars.
