The Outreach Coordinator for the NYCBenefits Child Care Initiative will lead all community engagement efforts and develop tailored outreach strategies to increase awareness and enrollment in childcare programs, including 3-K and Pre-K, Administration for Children’s Services vouchers, Human Resource Administration’s child care services, across the target ZIP codes (11101, 11377 and 11373). The individual in this role will coordinate with various stakeholders, including community organizations, schools, and local businesses, to execute an effective outreach plan. The primary goal is to ensure that immigrant and low-income families are aware of childcare options, have access to the support they need to enroll their children, and are oriented on other programs and services offered by Sunnyside Community Services. This position plays a key leadership role in the outreach efforts and requires strong organizational, communication, and community-building skills.
Responsibilities
Outreach Strategy and Coordination
- Lead the development and implementation of an outreach strategy for the target zip codes, working closely with the Director of Adult and Immigrant Services.
- Coordinate outreach activities with community organizations, schools, and businesses to build partnerships and increase visibility.
- Collaborate with the Program Director, UPK staff, and other stakeholders to identify and reach eligible families with children in need of childcare services.
- Create individualized outreach plans for each ZIP code to address the specific needs of the communities.
Event Planning and Community Engagement
- Organize and host community workshops, informational sessions, and public events to promote childcare enrollment.
- Coordinate street outreach in high-traffic areas, including community events, farmers markets, and transit hubs.
- Work closely with other program teams to integrate childcare outreach into existing community engagement activities.
- Oversee the distribution of multilingual outreach materials (flyers, brochures, digital content) and ensure they are culturally and linguistically appropriate for target communities.
Digital and Social Media Campaigns
- Develop and manage digital outreach campaigns, including social media posts, newsletters, and targeted advertisements, to promote childcare services.
- Track engagement metrics and adjust digital strategies as needed to reach a broader audience effectively.
- Utilize success stories, testimonials, and other engaging content to connect with the community online.
Collaboration and Reporting
- Serve as a key liaison between the NYCBenefits Child Care Initiative and community stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships to enhance outreach efforts.
- Report regularly to the Director of Adult and Immigrant Services on the progress of outreach initiatives, including community feedback and impact assessments.
- Regularly collect and analyze data on outreach efforts, including engagement metrics, program enrollments, and community feedback.
- Assess effectiveness of strategies and optimize the allocation of time and resources to maximize impact.
- Provide actionable insights to the Director of Adult and Immigrant Services for continuous improvement of outreach initiatives.
Cultural and Language Sensitivity
- Work with multilingual staff to ensure that outreach is accessible to immigrant communities and that all materials and events are available in multiple languages.
- Maintain a culturally sensitive approach in all outreach activities, ensuring that immigrant families feel welcomed and supported throughout the process.
Qualifications
- Bilingual required; Spanish preferred. (Additional languages relevant to the immigrant communities in Western Queens are a plus.)
- Bachelor’s degree, plus 2–3 years of experience in community outreach or program coordination.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to build and manage relationships with community stakeholders.
- Experience developing and executing outreach strategies, both in-person and digitally.
- Flexibility, creativity, and a commitment to working with diverse, underserved communities.
Salary: $53,000 – $58,000
