The per diem Custodian will perform various tasks to ensure the Senior Center is properly set up for scheduled weekend rental events according to client’s specifications and will ensure the area is cleaned by providing housekeeping services. The Custodian will ensure the Center is kept in a clean and orderly condition while an event is taking place, in addition to providing a clean and safe environment for staff, program participants, and visitors. They will understand and follow work policies and procedures to comply with organizational goals and objectives.
Sunnyside Community Services (SCS) is a multi-service, community-based organization providing a broad range of services to approximately 16,000 people each year. Our services include: pre-kindergarten and after school programs; college prep and career programs for teens and young adults; supports for immigrants; a vibrant Older Adult Center, dedicated home care services, support and assistance for family caregivers, and social adult day program for people with cognitive and physical impairments.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the Senior Center, including classrooms, are cleaned and properly set up for scheduled rental events.
- Ensure that all common areas of the Center are cleaned and set back up according to the daily schedule. This may include but not limited to the main dining room, aerobics area, porch, stage, classroom, and bathrooms at the conclusion of all rental events.
- Remove all garbage at the conclusion of rental events and place in the designated area on the sidewalk for sanitation pick up. Collect recycling items and store them in the garbage room until the scheduled pick-up date.
- Perform any other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Custodian experience is necessary.
- You must be dependable, reliable, and punctual.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including late nights, weekends, and possible holidays.
- Well organized, professional, and able to work under pressure.
- Ability to multitask, solve problems, and be detailed oriented.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, stairs, and move or lift moderate-sized objects (up to 25 lbs.)
Compensation: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour (Non-Exempt, Per Diem)
Reports to: Senior Custodian/Facility Manager
Schedule: Various weekends; 12–16 hrs. per weekend
