Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated intern to join our team and assist in conducting data analysis of publicly available demographic and school data within our catchment area in Western Queens. The intern will play a crucial role in helping us understand student and family needs through insightful data interpretation. This position offers an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience in data analysis and Geographic Information System (GIS) software within the context of a nonprofit organization.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, clean, and analyze publicly available demographic and school data.
- Utilize GIS software to visualize spatial data and perform spatial analysis.
- Collaborate with team members to interpret data findings and generate actionable insights.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
- Assist in identifying trends and patterns in data that inform programmatic decisions.
- Other related tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a graduate program in Data Science, Statistics, Geographic Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as R, Python, SQL, or similar.
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data analysis techniques.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
