On Thanksgiving Day, staff, volunteers, and Board Members of SCS prepared, cooked, and served a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for more than 200 older adults at our building in Sunnyside, NY. A number of activities were offered before and after the meal, including singing, dancing, games, music, and a raffle with prizes. State Senator Michael Gianaris stopped by to give a holiday greeting.
The Thanksgiving dinner is an annual tradition at SCS. The dinner, served in person at the SCS senior center, offers an opportunity for older adults to socialize with their friends and peers. Recipients of the meals participate in senior programs at SCS. The Thanksgiving Day event is just one of many programs throughout the year that we offer for adults aged 60 and older.
In the spirit of the holiday season, volunteers helped make this event a success, donating their time and talents to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Volunteers helped cook, prepare, and serve the meal, and played an essential role in making the day memorable for everyone involved. A big thank you to everyone who volunteered for this year’s event!
