SCS, in partnership with Queens Post and Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement, hosted a Democratic candidate forum on April 7, 2021. The event, live streamed on Facebook, YouTube, and Zoom, allowed residents to meet the Democratic candidates running for City Council in Districts 26 and 22.

SCS partnered with United Neighborhood Houses on an intergenerational effort where older community members designed and implemented after-school programming for youth. On February 12, nearly 50 senior citizens in Queens joined us for a virtual Valentine’s Day event. The free event included a number of fun activities and games, including a Valentine’s Day trivia game, Name That Tune, singing, and dancing. Some lucky seniors won raffle prizes such as cosmetics, lotions, scented candles and gift envelopes. Prizes were sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Sunnyside, led by the club’s president, Howard Brickman.
