These programs are apart of SCS’ Youth and Family Services and is guided by FUSE — our shared
framework for helping young people and families feel safe, connected, supported, and empowered to grow. At our Beacons, FUSE comes to life through community-building, shared responsibility, youth voice, and opportunities for families and neighbors to learn and grow together
The SCS Beacon Community Centers at I.S. 5 and PS 343 offer opportunities for your family to participate in a broad range of educational, fitness, and cultural activities.
Beacons serve children, teenagers, and adults, offering structured after-school programs and drop-in activities. After-school and summer camp programs are available for students in grades K – 8.
Health fairs and other events bring together local residents and celebrate the community’s diversity. SCS’ services at the Beacon are strengthened through collaborations with many other local community organizations.
Sunnyside Community Services’ Beacon Community Center is funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development.
